This innovative program allows Indian graduates with a three-year Bachelor's degree to upgrade to join ESIGELEC for a Master's degree. For three and a half months, these students will follow online courses delivered on the platform of Upgrad, one of the largest EdTech companies in India.
ESIGELEC expects to be able to welcome new profiles thanks to this partnership with Upgrad, launched in February 2022. “From now on, it will be possible for candidates to join ESIGELEC's master's program after a three-year Indian Bachelor's degree, such as a Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) or a Bachelor of Science (BSc). Previously, holding a four-year Bachelor's degree such as a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) or a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) was necessary", explains Vidya Suresh, representative in India of the engineering school located in Rouen, France.
Mutual quality requirements
Indeed, the curriculum of Indian Bachelors in three years does not offer certain important theoretical and scientific elements allowing students to join the English taught master program of Esigelec in good conditions. But the school was aware that it was depriving itself of good profiles among these graduates, particularly those who had accumulated a few years of professional experience. The idea of partnering with UpGrad emerged when this new Indian Edtech platform launched its “UpGrad abroad” activity dedicated to foreign institutions.
“This bridge program was not created overnight. We have exchanged a lot with UpGrad to develop it, with mutual quality requirements” continues Vidya Suresh. Some modules will be delivered by ESIGELEC professors, others by faculty attached to UpGrad.
Validation of assessments
In concrete terms, to be able to participate in the Bridge program, interested engineers holding a three-year Bachelor's degree must first apply to ESIGELEC. If they meet the selection criteria, the school grants them conditional admission. This will be transformed into final admission once they have completed the three and a half months of online courses - and validated the end-of-program assessments.
The Bridge Program is invoiced by UpGrad at 200,000 rupees or 2350 euros. Tuition fees at ESIGELEC amount to 15,450 euros over two years, a reasonable amount for many Indian families. In addition, all Indian students who have obtained an academic average above 70% during their Bachelor studies benefit from a scholarship of 2500 euros. Every year (excluding covid), ESIGELEC welcomes around 70 Indian students in total on its campus.
